Dear Parents and Patrons:
During the 2007-2008 school year our students once again demonstrated outstanding academic performance on the increasingly difficult State-mandated TAKS tests. Golden Rule and Hyde Park Elementary Schools were ranked Exemplary by the Texas Education Agency. Houston, Lamar, Layne, Mayes, and Terrell Elementary Schools were ranked Recognized and were all within only a few points of being ranked Exemplary. Denison High School was ranked in the Top 4% of the nation’s high schools by Newsweek Magazine for the second year in a row. Golden Rule Elementary School was one of only 23 schools in Texas to be named a Blue Ribbon School by the United States Office of Education. Our students also excelled in dozens of extra-curricular competitions, winning top awards at District, Regional, and State levels.
All these accomplishments were only possible with the support of our community. Through the hard work of students, teachers, staff, parents, and community partners, Denison has earned a reputation for graduating students who not only do well in educational settings, but also in life. Throughout the 2008-2009 school year, we will work as a team to help each and every student master concepts and knowledge through meaningful and applicable learning, and by providing an educational environment that encourages and fosters success at every level.
I am excited about the bright possibilities the future holds for our school children. With your help and continued support, the 2008-2009 school year will be the best ever for the students of Denison ISD.
Sincerely,

Henry Scott, Ed.D.
